George Jackson – Chaplain
George says a door of opportunity has opened for him, and he is thrilled to join the team at Headwaters Hospice. He feels deeply thankful, grateful, and blessed to be part of an organization created by and for veterans, yet dedicated to serving anyone in need of compassionate hospice care. He views life as a journey from cradle to grave, and at this stage, he is older than he’s ever been and, hopefully, wiser than he ever thought he could be. Being recognized for his skills in chaplain care at this point in his life is both an honor and an affirmation.
Faith has been his guiding light through the ups, downs, twists, and turns of life. With more than 40 years of pastoral care experience, he often reflects on how life’s lessons can surpass formal education. He has been privileged to come alongside individuals in their times of need and offer comfort and support.
He credits his wife, Darla, as a loving and supportive partner throughout his journey in pastoral care. The two recently celebrated 45 wonderful years together and feel richly blessed with two sons, a daughter, and five grandchildren. Outside of his work, he enjoys restoring old cars and trucks, as well as hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping—activities he wishes he could do more often.
Now, as a member of the compassionate team at Headwaters Hospice, he looks forward to providing support to individuals and families during life’s most challenging times. He is honored to be part of an organization that families trust to offer comfort, care, and dignity at the end of life.
