Anyone with a serious, complex illness or condition can quality for palliative care. For example, people who struggle with a chronic illness or disease, like heart disease, COPD, renal disease, diabetes, or dementia may be eligible for palliative care. In fact, the American Heart Association recommends that heart patients begin receiving palliative care as soon as they’re diagnosed.
